Karen’s therapy style is client centred. She seeks to develop a warm and open relationship with her clients and values a collaborative approach in helping people achieve their goals. In sessions Karen works with her clients to form an individualised treatment plan drawing from evidence- based psychotherapies including CBT, CBT-e, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational interviewing, MANTRA and Schema Therapy.
Karen has a specific interest and experience in helping people with disordered eating and body image issues and is an ANZAED eating disorder credentialed psychologist. Karen also works with people experiencing problems with depression, anxiety, stress (including workplace stress), self-esteem concerns, relational difficulties and people impacted by medical conditions.
Karen has worked as a Psychologist with adults and young people in the mental health sector for the last 6 years.
In addition to her psychology qualifications, Karen previously worked as a registered nurse and has extensive experience in acute and chronic hospital settings. This background has created a passionate interest in the holistic relationship between psychological and physical well-being. Drawing on this experience, she has a particular interest in helping clients who are impacted psychologically by a medical diagnosis, are having difficulties managing the demands of treatment adherence or are experiencing stress or anxiety around their health generally.
